Do I need to see my doctor first in order to start physical therapy?

Do I need a prescription?
Maybe. The answer depends mostly on the type of health insurance that you have. With your insurance information in hand, give us a call. Our friendly office staff at any one of our offices can answer this question for you.
How long will my appointment be?
A typical visit is anywhere from 45 – 90 minutes in length depending on condition.
How many times a week will I have to come?
We find that 3 times per week is the most effective treatment frequency for the majority of conditions. Your therapist will use clinical rationale to set up a treatment frequency that works best for your condition and rehab goals.
How long is it going to take for me to get better?
This varies from patient to patient. Most report relief within the first few visits, however full recovery time differs per patient, per condition.
Will I see the same therapist every time?
We do our best to allow you to schedule primarily with one therapist. Sometimes a secondary therapist may be necessary depending on how your schedule coordinates with your therapist’s schedule. Your care and consistency in treatment is our top priority.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Loose-fitting comfortable clothing and shoes you would be comfortable exercising in. Consider the body part that is injured and make sure that your clothing will allow us to work on that area.
Is physical therapy going to be painful?
Our goal is not to cause pain but to decrease and minimize pain. Your therapist will educate you on what to expect when it comes to soreness after physical therapy sessions. We recognize that each person has a unique tolerance for pain and we strive to be sensitive and respectful to that.
Will I be able to get appointments that coordinate with my work schedule?
Most likely, yes! As long as we are open during your off hours we will do our best to schedule your appointments at times that work well for your life.
